GlobalConnect operates 11 data centers in Denmark and even more in the other countries where GlobalConnect is present. In addition to the ongoing operation and maintenance of our existing Data centers, there are also large expansions in the pipeline. As our new Datacenter Site Manager, you will be part of the Site Operations department with over 45 skilled team members, with colleagues in Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany and with employees from many nationalities, enabling you to work in a multinational environment.
Responsibilities
As a Data Center Critical Facilities Engineer at GlobalConnect, you play a hands-on role in maintaining and supporting the operation of critical infrastructure systems within our data centers. Your primary responsibilities include performing preventive and corrective maintenance, responding to faults and emergencies, monitoring electrical and mechanical systems, and ensuring continuous uptime of essential services. You will also contribute to system upgrades, infrastructure installations, and change management procedures. You’ll work closely with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to ensure all work complies with operational standards, safety protocols, and performance targets. Additionally, you may be called upon to assist at other sites to support your colleagues and maintain business continuity across the region.
Key Responsibilities
·Preventive & Corrective Maintenance: Perform rounds and inspections to conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on critical systems.
Inspect and test important equipment such as backup generators, cooling systems, UPS batteries, and electrical panels to ensure optimal performance and early detection of faults.
·Physical Monitoring & Inspections: Carry out daily inspections on infrastructure components to assess technical performance, environmental conditions, and compliance with safety and operational standards.
·Incident & Emergency Response: Monitor and respond rapidly to system alerts, alarms, and emergencies.
·Complex Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and assist with repairing of complex issues across electrical, mechanical, and control systems. Apply systematic problem-solving techniques and escalate when needed.
·Change Management: Support the execution and documentation of system changes, following established Change Management protocols to minimize operational risk.
·Vendor Supervision: Coordinate and supervise external vendors to ensure adherence to operational procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards during maintenance or installation work.
Moreover, you will have an important role being an essential part of the rotational 24x7 on-call system, also having the requirement to work overtime, reflecting the continuous nature of data center operations as a Data Center never sleeps. Based on these requirements, it would therefore also be beneficial if you are able to reach our Taastrup site within approx. 45 minutes.
About You
You are a dedicated professional with a strong commitment to operational excellence and safety in Mission critical environments. With a blend of technical knowledge and hands-on experience, you are skilled at handling complex systems and processes and thrive in roles where critical infrastructure demands unwavering attention. You are detail-oriented, quick to respond to emergencies, and focused on developing and adhering to robust procedures. Your adaptability and communication skills enable you to work effectively with team members, vendors, and contractors alike. You come with experience from operations in a technical environment - preferably data centers. In addition, you have at least one of the following qualifications:
- Technical education: It can be as a marine engineer, electrician, refrigeration technician, energy technologist, automation technologist or similar
- Relevant experience with Critical Facilities: e.g., Electrical, mechanical, generators, automation, HVAC, buildings automation etc.
- Practical experience with troubleshooting and servicing technical installations
- Meeting customer and government security screening requirements are required for this role.
