The role has a global reach and impacts on results within the Research and Early Development and Global Development areas.
Your Role
Responsible for supporting the medical strategy for selected assets within early portfolio and Business Development projects.
This position will deliver medical insight and guidance to business and functional strategy, and translate the corporate strategy into short to long-term tactical direction and priorities for the early portfolio assets (including indication selection, program development, early evidence generation with a focus on the medical and patient needs. This position will also be responsible for leading execution of key projects.
- Through in-depth understanding of dermatological diseases and treatment landscapes, support the Global Medical Strategy and plan for early portfolio in alignment with the asset and brand strategies.
- Contribute as a strong co-lead in key strategic forums, driving early disease area understanding & long-term strategic view for the asset/disease area(s).
- Provide input into Clinical Development Plans: study endpoints, patient populations & optimal trial execution.
- Drive integrated evidence plans for early assets in collaboration with the Global Medical Affairs Strategic Evidence & Communication Team.
- Lead clinical/real-world studies, as relevant and contribute as a key reviewer to study proposals.
- Lead the scientific narrative and medical communication/education activities for assigned early assets/diseases.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with External Expert (EE), undertaking expert advice to shape and validate medical and strategic planning and evidence generation.
- Engage affiliates, as needed, to gather insights and foster strong global collaboration.
- Provide input into development of the Strategic Publication plan and lead relevant publication development.
- Contribute, through medical expertise, to appropriate internal/external actions regarding regulatory, pharmacovigilance, health economics, etc.
- Support, as needed, assessment of Business Development (BD) opportunities, and BD partnerships.
- Prepare pre-launch activities for assets/areas moving into later stage development.
Your qualifications
To succeed in this role, we imagine that you have the following qualifications:
- Medical Doctor (MD), PharmD or PhD in natural sciences. Board certification in dermatology is ideal.
- Ideally 6+ years of experience from Medical Affairs roles, some of these years might be spent partly in Clinical Development and ideally include Global / Regional and affiliate working experience
- Experience in dermatology and with topical agents is preferred
- Hands on experience of both product launches and marketed products
- Good understanding of the drug development process
- Experience building and managing strong working relationships with external stakeholders

The Role

Contribute as a strong co-lead in key strategic forums (GAT, GBT, NPP team etc.), driving the early value story & long-term strategic view for the asset/disease area(s), in collaboration with the Global Program Leads, New Product Planning, RED, Global Clinical Science and the R&D early portfolio leads.
Provide input into Clinical Development Plans: study endpoints, patient populations & optimal trial execution
Drive integrated evidence plans for early assets in collaboration with the Global Medical Affairs Strategic Evidence & Communication Team. Lead clinical/real-world studies, as relevant and contribute as a key reviewer to study proposals
Lead the scientific narrative and medical communication/education activities for assigned early assets/diseases
Develop and maintain professional relationships with External Expert (EE), undertaking expert advice to shape and validate medical and strategic planning and evidence generation
Ensure patient engagement in relevant processes to represent the patient voice
Engage affiliates, as needed, to gather insights and foster strong global collaboration
Provide input into development of the Strategic Publication plan and lead relevant publication development.
Contribute, through medical expertise, to appropriate internal/external actions regarding regulatory, pharmacovigilance, health economics, etc.
Support, as needed, assessment of Business Development (BD) opportunities, and BD partnerships

Your Profile
Medical Doctor (MD), PharmD or PhD in natural sciences. Board certification in dermatology is ideal.
8+ years of experience from Medical Affairs roles, some of these years might be spent partly in Clinical Development and ideally include Global / Regional and affiliate working experience
Experience in dermatology and with topical agents is preferred
Hands on experience of both product launches and marketed products
Good understanding of the drug development process
Experience building and managing strong working relationships with external stakeholders
Commercial understanding, proven ability to successfully partner with Global Medical Affairs Asset Teams, Clinical Development, and Commercial teams
