In this role, you’ll be our go-to Azure expert - responsible for designing and maintaining robust, secure, and scalable cloud solutions. You’ll drive automation, proactively manage performance, ensure governance, and mentor the IT Operations team, directly supporting Abacus Medicine Group’s mission to enhance access to medicine worldwide.
What you’ll be doing:
Azure Infrastructure & Platform Engineering
- Design, deploy, and optimize Azure infrastructure (VMs, VNets, Load Balancers, App Services).
- Manage PaaS services (Azure SQL, Functions, Logic Apps, Storage).
- Continuously refine performance, scalability, availability, and cost efficiency.
Monitoring & Operations
- Configure Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and App Insights.
- Proactively analyze logs and metrics to identify and resolve issues.
- Participate in incident response and root cause analysis.
Governance & Compliance
- Implement policies, tagging, RBAC, and naming standards.
- Work with Security to ensure compliance and audit readiness.
- Maintain clear infrastructure documentation and diagrams.
Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Build and test disaster recovery and backup strategies.
- Ensure data integrity and readiness for any scenario.
Networking & DNS
- Design secure network topologies and firewall policies.
- Manage and optimize public DNS and network performance.
Infrastructure-as-Code & Automation
- Build and maintain IaC with Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
- Automate workflows with PowerShell and Azure CLI.
- Drive CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployments
Your Team and Stakeholders
You’ll join a strong IT Operations department, split between our Operations team (5 employees in Copenhagen) and our Service Desk team (14 employees across Copenhagen, Alkmaar, and Budapest). You’ll collaborate with teams in software development, Microsoft D365, data, AI, integrations, IT security, and business stakeholders, as well as external vendors. You will report to the Head of IT Operations.
Who you are:
Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science, IT, or similar (or equivalent experience).
- Proven expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud services and infrastructure.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM) and automation.
- Familiarity with backup solutions (CommVault preferred).
- Azure certifications (preferred but not required if you have solid hands-on experience).
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Azure CLI).
- Analytical problem-solver who loves optimizing systems.
- Comfortable mentoring team members and sharing knowledge.
- Excellent communicator and team player with an eye for detail.
