Are you a knowledge expert on Microbiology who can support us in taking Arla Foods Ingredients R&D to the highest standards in the world with regards to Food Safety and Quality? Can you apply your microbiology knowledge to production processes of whey and milk-based powder ingredients? Then join the Process Microbiology Team at Arla Foods Ingredients Innovation Centre in Videbaek. This position is a maternity cover, 12 months.
Arla Foods Ingredients (AFI) is an independent company within the Arla Foods Group with an ambition to become the true global leader in value-added whey within different categories including bakery, beverages, dairy, infant and sports nutrition.
Your new work place will be in AFI´s state of the art Innovation Center near Videbæk (Denmark) together with approx. 85 colleagues (technicians, scientists and administrative employees). The R&D department has great working atmosphere where cross organizational working relationships are important. AFI R&D has world class Pilot and laboratory facilities.
You will be part of AFI R&D Process, in the Process Microbiology team, consisting of two scientists and a student assistant. This team’s main goal is to support the development of new processes for dairy based ingredients in powder form and to scale up from pilot plant to production level. Among your stakeholders, you will work closely with Supply Chain and Quality departments of Arla Foods Ingredients, and with microbiologists from the Arla Foods Innovation Centre. Among others, you can look forward to:
- Be a knowledge expert in microbiology challenges in processes and products in AFI internally and be in in close corporation with the Quality-department, Internal laboratories, and R&D projects across AFI
- Lead and participate in Microbiology lab trials and research projects
What will make you successful
You should be able to work structured and good at sharing knowledge at different levels. You thrive in a work environment that both involves independent work and teamwork and you preferably have experience with working together with external partners. In addition, you
- hold an MSc in food microbiology, molecular biology or similar field:
- have several years of experience from the industry
- have an interest in processing, engineering and operations (e.g. membrane filtration, chromatography and dairy operations)
- have practical experience from laboratory and have an interest in both working on projects from a theoretical and practical perspective.
- have an interest in exploring and testing methods of analysis
Finally, experience in microbial risk assessment is a plus but not necessary.
