The Position
You will be technically strong, self-driven, and capable of independently planning and executing your projects. You will be working across the product lifecycle - from initial design, analysis, and test planning through integration and qualification. You will be involved in cross-functional collaboration with propulsion, structures, avionics, ground segment equipment, and software teams on regular basis.
Key responsibilities of the role
- Take ownership of assigned fluid hardware developments (valves, regulators, fittings, flanges, bellows, insulation, piping, etc.) from concept through to flight readiness.
- Perform detailed design, analysis (analytical/numerical), and documentation of fluid hardware in accordance with requirements.
- Establish test plans and procedures; execute and report developmental and qualification testing.
- Prepare design documentation and deliverables for major program reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR, QR).
- Develop and manage individual project plans, ensuring delivery to agreed schedules and budgets.
- Support Systems Engineering by contributing to requirements definition and verification strategies.
- Collaborate with integration teams to develop common hardware standards (fittings, flanges, insulation, etc.) for cross-program use.
- Work with in-house and external production teams to ensure manufacturability and quality of flight-grade hardware.
- Support vehicle integration and propulsion development test campaigns as a technical owner for assigned hardware.
- Educational background in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in the design and development of fluid hardware (e.g., valves, actuators, regulators, fittings, or piping).
- Skilled in mechanical CAD design, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and generating manufacturing documentation.
- Experience with analysis tools to validate designs (e.g., SolidWorks FEA/CFD, Ansys, Fluent/CFX)
- Hands-on experience with hardware integration and testing, including test documentation and reporting.
- Familiarity with project planning tools and ability to independently manage development timelines.
Desirable experience and traits:
- Experience with cryogenic fluids and/or high-pressure systems.
- Exposure to additive manufacturing methods for propulsion components.
- Knowledge of manufacturing and quality assurance processes in aerospace hardware.
