As HSE Director, you will report directly to the Vice President of QHSE&E, Thomas Ellert. You will join the global QHSE&E management team, and become a central part of our Global Quality, Health, Safety, Environment & Energy Organization in VELUX, covering the whole VELUX Group.
About the job
As HSE Director, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and leading the VELUX Health, Safety and Environment agenda in close cooperation with managers and employees across our global organization. We are proud to say that we already have a deeply anchored safety culture in our operations and supply organization, and your task will be to maintain and further develop this safety culture and continue striving towards our zero accidents targets. In other parts of our organisation, we are less mature when it comes to establishing a safety first culture, and here you will have a critical role in assessing current state and develop and implement appropriate strategies, initiatives, policies and procedures to establish a stronger health and safety awareness which over time should found a culture where health and safety are core pillars in the ways-of-working.
Being part of a Matrix organisation, you will have an important role in communicating and aligning knowledge and strategic direction for Health, Safety and Environment across the VELUX organization.
More specifically, your responsibilities will include:
Driving the Safety initiatives in the VELUX Group to create and sustain a safe working environment and to develop the safety culture towards safety excellence
Spearheading collaboration and knowledge sharing within all Business Areas of the VELUX Group
Identifying safety improvement areas and developing HSE strategies that align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements
Collaborating with the various functional areas and local resources in our organization to ensure global implementation
Developing and updating global HSE policies and procedures
Verifying compliance with applicable global standards through audits at production sites
Identifying, proposing, and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) that support proactive safety measures for the global reporting
Motivating, supporting, coaching, guiding and developing your HSE team in Global QHSE&E to perform their best
The role will be based at one of our European sites in either Denmark, Germany, France, Poland, Hungary or Czech Republic depending on where you reside. As the role entails global responsibility, you can expect to travel 30-50 days/year to visit local sites.
About you
As a person, you are characterized by your structured approach to your work and your keen eye for process improvements, and you deliver high quality even when deadlines are tight. You have excellent interpersonal skills, are collaborative by heart, and enjoy working with and managing multiple stakeholders at various organizational levels. With your great communication skills and accommodating nature, you easily build rapport and instill trust with your stakeholders, and you are curious to understand their business challenges and development needs. You know when to stand firm and when to be flexible, and you are comfortable being in a position with high exposure to top management level.
Additionally, we expect that you:
Have a relevant academic degree which has provided you with a methodical toolbox for complex problem solving
Bring several years of experience working in a role of HSE leadership at strategic level and with a global scope
Have extensive experience in safety management, and possess deep understanding and capability in safety excellence
Have sound analytical skills and experience working with data analysis, statistics and KPI tracking
Posses knowledge of ergonomics requirements and assessment tools
Have solid knowledge of EU regulations related to Occupational Health and Safety for employees
Are an experienced people manager and bring experience in HSE from a manufacturing company where your focus has been not only safety in production but in all functions of the company
Speak and write English at a professional level
