We are looking for an experienced researcher in the area of CO2 capture technologies from fundamental to applied research, to strengthen our position at the forefront of this research field. Your experience should cover basic chemistry analytical skills to large scale pilot experience, hands-on, and data analysis. This includes experience on corrosion, kinetics, emission impurities, and solvent degradation.
You will lead research related to pilot-scale CO2 capture, but also fundamental research on innovating CO2 technologies from basic knowledge of physico-chemical properties, reaction kinetics, energetic properties, solvent degradation, and corrosion. You have experience from gas analysis from on-site data acquisition. You must have experience of managing pilot-scale activities, including talking to site-owners, legal permits, and procurement of new devices in pilot work.
Responsibilities and qualifications
You have a PhD in Chemical Engineering or similar, and you have a strong experimental background and have experience managing and supervising young researchers at all levels. You have also demonstrated collaboration with scientists in your area of research and you should have experience from close collaboration with several industries, including publications with industry. You have a strong record of publications in leading journals and must have demonstrated wide impact e.g. by publications with an impact factor above 10. You must have shown a high degree of publications within the last three years.
You are expected to have shown the capability to manage several complicated research activities consequently.
Your overall focus will be to strengthen the department’s competences in CO2 capture and the CO2 value chain. You will work with nearby colleagues, and with both academic and industrial partners in Denmark as well as abroad. Your primary tasks will be to:
- Advance research in all aspects of the CO2 value chain
- Supervise and inspire students at all levels
- Procure research funding to support the activities in this area
- Expedite the dissemination of knowledge through timely publication and presentation and conferences
You must contribute to the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.
As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).
You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:
- Research experience
- Experience and quality of teaching
- Research vision and potential
- International impact and experience
- Societal impact

At the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering our research is built on the technological core subjects and engineering scientific disciplines. Our research covers separation processes, reaction engineering, dynamics and process regulations, process and facility planning, unit operations, heat transmission, fluid mechanics and applied thermodynamics. We work closely with industry to obtain research results that are applicable to industry and society. Within our research centres we carry out a wide range of specialized chemical and biochemical engineering research through field experiments, experiments in lab scale, pilot facilities and in industrial scale. Our main activities are in the areas of product design, process design and production in the chemical, biotechnological, pharmaceutical, food – and energy technological industries.
Technology for people
DTU develops technology for people. With our international elite research and study programmes, we are helping to create a better world and to solve the global challenges formulated in the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Hans Christian Ørsted founded DTU in 1829 with a clear mission to develop and create value using science and engineering to benefit society. That mission lives on today. DTU has 13,500 students and 6,000 employees. We work in an international atmosphere and have an inclusive, evolving, and informal working environment.
