The Materials Mechanics group within the Section of Solid Mechanics, Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering is hiring a highly qualified and ambitious Postdoc, to join a Novo Nordisk Foundation-funded project, “Rubber band batteries as a green alternative to existing batteries (RUBBA)”. The project includes partners from DTU Chemical Engineering and Wollongong University, Australia.
Responsibilities and qualifications
The project’s focus will be on modeling novel silicone polymers and elastomers and developing mechanical design for storage of energy in the form of large elastic deformations. A close collaboration with chemists synthesizing new polymers will be central to the project. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who can work independently and in collaboration with colleagues and has excellent oral and written English skills. You should strive towards scientific excellence and be ambitious and hard-working.
The preferred candidate shall have background / experience in the following areas:
- Solid Mechanics
- Continuum mechanics
- Large deformation elasticity
- Design of mechanical devices
- Programming skills
As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
The period of employment is 18 months.
