About the role
As (Senior) Category Manager for Green Fuels, you will be at the forefront of DFDS’s alternative fuel strategy, working closely with our colleagues in Decarbonisation and Ferry Operations. You will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies that support our transition to sustainable marine fuels, including methane, biofuels, methanol, ammonia, and other emerging technologies.
Furthermore, you will develop strategies and implementation together with our colleagues in Fleet Resilience & Technology within categories like Paint, Lube Oil and Chemicals.
You will:
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for alternative fuels and selected technical marine categories.
- Develop and implement category strategies aligned with DFDS’s decarbonisation roadmap.
- Engage with senior stakeholders across the organisation to align procurement with technical and operational needs.
- Drive data-driven decision-making, incl. complex cost-benefit analyses and business cases.
- Run tenders and lead negotiations with suppliers in cross-functional teams.
- Establish and maintain supplier relationships, incl. performance management and strategic reviews.
- Optimise procurement processes in collaboration with Operational Procurement.
This role offers broad exposure to DFDS’s leadership and operational teams, giving you the opportunity to influence key decisions and shape the future of marine sustainability.
The work you'll be driving has strong support and visibility from Executive Management, who is fully committed to strengthening sustainable procurement and our decarbonisation pathway - highlighting the strategic importance of this position.
The role is available at either Category Manager or Senior Category Manager level, depending on your experience and qualifications.
About you
You are a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are motivated by the opportunity to drive change. You are comfortable navigating complex stakeholder landscapes and have a strong analytical mindset.
We imagine the ideal candidate has:
- 5+ years of experience in strategic procurement, preferably within marine, energy, or industrial sectors.
- A relevant academic background e.g. in business, engineering or environmental sciences.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead initiatives from concept to implementation.
- Experience with tendering, contract negotiation, and supplier performance management.
- Advanced analytical skills, incl. proficiency in Excel and data interpretation.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to engage stakeholders across cultures and functions.
