Key Responsibilities
- Works with the SAP early in the project to follow the Electrical Safe Systems of Work Procedure.
- Provides mentoring and workshops for testing and commissioning technicians according to the commissioning plan with the SAP.
- Ensures all workers know and follow the Electrical Safe Systems of Work.
- Issues and manages Permits for energized work activities according to the SAP.
- Attends daily testing and commissioning meetings as needed.
- Reviews project specifications and drawings to understand specific requirements.
- Follows operational procedures and electrical safety rules.
- Interprets electrical protection measures in fault conditions.
- Manages safety documents and lockout/tag out procedures.
- Reviews switch gear and controls before system start-up.
- Attends daily progress meetings for the project.
- Works with contractors to review commissioning sequences and test scripts.
- Coordinates with control system providers for system handover and permit control schedules.
- Supports the initial start-up and energisation of equipment following the Electrical Safe Systems of Work plan.
- Oversees and coordinates specific tests, ensuring all documentation is complete.
- Ensures testing and commissioning activities are witnessed and signed off.
- Makes sure all test equipment is available and calibrated.
Skills & Education Required
- At least 3 years' experience in a similar role.
- Electrical Qualification.
- Demonstrated capability in construction delivery.
- IT proficient, including CAD & MS Office.
- Exceptional time management skills, for both prioritising workload and meeting strict deadlines.
- QHSE knowledge.
Desired Competencies
- Strong understanding and interpretation of project specifications, drawings, SLDs, cable solutions, and data sheets.
- In-depth knowledge of earthing systems and configurations.
- Comprehensive understanding of busbar and busway systems, including interlocking secondary energy sources.
- Expertise in applying discrimination studies for short-circuit/overload protection and earth/line fault currents.
- Familiarity with FAT/SAT reporting for electrical switchgear and associated philosophies.
- Good understanding of switchgear configurations, separations, and type testing.
- Strong knowledge of national electrical regulations.
- Proficient in developing switching plans.
- Capable of performing switching and isolating of low/medium voltage systems.
- Experience and knowledge of mission-critical projects.
