SDU Robotics, part of the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), invites applications for several fully funded 1-year Research Assistant positions, where the candidate will work on a project within the area of medical A, robotics, and sensing technology. The starting date is October 1, 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter and will be agreed with the successful candidate. The workplace is at SDU's main campus in Odense, Denmark, and the work is expected to be primarily onsite.

We are currently extending the team working on the AirCare project which focuses on robotics, biomedical sensor and AI algorithm for cancer diagnosis.

This project aims to develop a miniaturized robot and bio-sensor for on-site laryngeal cancer diagnosis. The candidate can contribute to one of the following topics:

Profile and requirements

The candidate will participate in SDU Robotics’ comprehensive research and teaching activities within the areas of medical robotics, advanced user interaction, AI algorithms and biomedical sensing. The position requires a master’s degree within robotics, electrical engineering, welfare technology, machine learning, or a similar area. The candidate is expected to have a profound knowledge on the majority of the following topics:

Research environment
The candidate will be integrated in the section SDU Robotics, which is at the core of the Odense Robotics Cluster involving Universal Robots, Mobile Industrial Robots (MIR) and 120+ other companies. We are a team of appr. 60 researchers and engineers specialized in research and development of robot solutions within the medical, welfare and industrial domain. 

SDU Robotics is involved in a variety of national and European projects and features a strong network of academic and industrial partners. We solve challenging research problems derived from real-life challenges by implementing novel robot solutions together with end users as national hospitals, Universal Robots, LEGO and Novo Nordisk.

Odense

Assessment and selection process

Conditions of employment
The employment as research assistant is temporary and will cease without further notice at the end of the period. The position is for a 1-year period with the possibility of extension. The starting date is 01.10.2025 or as soon as possible thereafter and will be agreed with the successful candidate. The workplace is at SDU's main campus in Odense, Denmark, and the work is expected to be primarily onsite.

Employment as a research assistant requires qualifications at minimum master’s level at the time of employment. Employment will be in accordance with the collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations for academics in the state with the associated circular on the protocol for the job structure for academic staff at Danish universities and the provisions for research assistant as described herein. Further information on salary and taxation. 

People employed in the position may, based on a specific individual managerial assessment, be exempted from time registration, also known as a self-organiser.
