Sustainability Manager – Office Based (Copenhagen)
Role Context:
Worley are currently bidding for a well-recognized Danish green hydrogen project (EPCM), this project is set to start in the south of Denmark and EPCm is estimated to run for 4 years. This project is part of a large European strategy and is important in Denmark's efforts to reduce greenhouse gases and improve renewable energy. The project includes a greenfield large onshore pipeline and an existing methane pipeline. Please note this role is subject to project award on a contractual basis, which will commence in Q1 2026. For this project in particular we require individual that are already based in Denmark as no relocation assistance will be provided.
The Sustainability Manager will be responsible for managing and integrating sustainability across all phases of the project, from planning and design to tendering, construction and commissioning in line with the Client’s requirements.
A key focus will be on integrating Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) into the design process to minimize the carbon footprint of the infrastructure, ensuring that the infrastructure is climate resilient and promoting biodiversity and ecosystems.
The role needs to collaborate closely with the Client, engineering, procurement, and construction teams, as well as external stakeholders to ensure successful integration of sustainability.
You'll be:
- Developing and executing a comprehensive sustainability strategy aligned with Client objectives, industry best practices, and applicable regulations.
- Leading the integration of Life Cycle Assessment into the design process to identify and minimize embodied carbon and environmental impacts.
- Collaborating with design teams to evaluate material choices, construction methods, and operational impacts.
- Ensuring infrastructure design and execution account for long-term climate resilience, risk mitigation, and adaptation strategies.
- Promoting biodiversity and ecological enhancements through habitat protection, restoration, and ecosystem-sensitive planning.
- Acting as the primary sustainability liaison with the Client and engage with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) teams to ensure effective coordination.
You'll have:
- Relevant Degree Education within similar fields, Supplemental training or certifications in sustainability.
- Experience in managing sustainability in large-scale infrastructure or energy projects.
- Experience in integrating Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) into infrastructure project design.
- Understanding of, and ideally experience with, climate adaptation and resilience of infrastructure.
- Understanding of, and ideally experience with, key EU sustainability regulations, including the EU Taxonomy for Sustainable Activities and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
- Ideally some understanding and experience in developing sustainability requirements and evaluation criteria for public and private tenders.
