The Pathology Service og DK-VET (Patologivagten) is established as part of the national veterinary contingency system. It ensures that sampling for infectious diseases (including zoonoses) is carried out correctly and safely. Carcasses are necropsied, and samples are subsequently forwarded for diagnostic examination under secure conditions.

Job description
The veterinarians´ duties will primarily consist of:
- Key part: participation in research activities concerning health and disease in wildlife and domestic animals, including coordination and execution of tasks related to an EU-funded project.
- Participation in the collection of carcasses and samples, which requires travel within Denmark; a valid driver’s license is therefore essential.
Other tasks may include:
- Participation in necropsies, sampling, laboratory and journal work related to the veterinary contingency plan, wildlife disease surveillance and diagnostic cases.
- Participating in task related to the operation of the veterinary contingency BSL2 and BSL3 necropsy rooms.
- Contributing to ongoing surveillance and research activities, reports and publications. Participating in task related to accreditation.
Qualifications
- You are a qualified veterinarian (with Danish veterinary authorization), preferably recently graduated.
- You have an interest in epidemiology, pathology and microbiology, as well as knowledge sharing and communication.
- You have very strong written and verbal communication skills in Danish and English and are comfortable using computers.
- You have a valid driver’s license for a passenger car (Category B) is required.
- You are cooperative, flexible, responsible, takes initiative, can work independently, and possesses a proactive mindset, enabling you to adapt swiftly to changing circumstances and demands.
Terms of employment
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff.
Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
