Job description
The position is a shared position between project funded from the Villum foundation and the Novonordisk Foundation with focus on monomer and small organic catalyst synthesis.
You will be involved in developing and characterizing polymer-based catalytic nanomotors with focus on their locomotion and collaborate closely with the Department of Mathematics at Aarhus University. In addition, your organic chemistry skills will be instrumental in developing antioxidant artificial cells. These interdisciplinary projects will advance our understanding of the next-generation colloidal systems.
Your profile
Applicants should hold a PhD in organic or polymer chemistry, or similar. You have extensive experience in organic chemistry and have a proven track record of publishing in field-leading peer-reviewed journals. You have experience with mentoring of students, and you have the ambition to drive your own research project(s) independently.
Expertise in experimental organic chemistry is necessary and hands-on knowledge in polymer chemistry and colloidal science is a benefit. Further, basic skills in biochemistry and interest in modelling are an advantage.
Documented experience in classroom teaching is a benefit.

You will be driving the organic chemistry aspects of two projects. You will collaborate with research groups from mathematics, nanoscience and the hospital. In addition to NMR-based techniques and mass spectroscopy, you will use a suite of colloidal and nanoscience techniques to characterize the particles.

The place of work is iNANO, the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center(www.inano.au.dk), which was established in 2002 and at present is a major research
and education center based at Aarhus University hosting 60 senior scientists, ~100
Postdocs and ~100 PhD students.
The center combines expertise and faculty from Physics, Chemistry, Molecular biology
and Medicine to carry out world class interdisciplinary research in Nanoscience and
Nanotechnology.
The center gives access to a broad range of infrastructure, tools and expertise
including clean-room facilities. With a 5 year undergraduate nanotechnology program
and nanoscience graduate program (www.inanoschool.au.dk) the center provides a full
educational environment. In addition to the large base of basic research, the center has
a large number of ongoing industrial projects and partnerships.
The Laboratory for Cell Mimicry is an interdisciplinary group working at the interface of nanoscience and cell biology.

This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. Formalities and salary range

Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
