PhD scholarship in Wearable Systems and Digital Health - DTU Compute

DTU - Technical University of Denmark
Region Hovedstaden
Full time
for 3 uger siden

We invite applications for a fully funded 3-year PhD position in the Embedded Systems Engineering (ESE) research section at DTU Compute in collaboration with the Technical University of Munich (TUM), focusing on cutting-edge research in digital health, wearable sensing, and embedded artificial intelligence. The Project title is ‘IoT-based Assisted Living’ and the main purpose is to develop a low-power, privacy-preserving Internet of Things system that supports caregivers in delivering high-quality, home-based care for elderly individuals. The project focuses on developing technologies that support elderly individuals living at home, advancing smart healthcare solutions with the goal of enabling broader applications in remote monitoring, home-based health tracking, and rehabilitation. It aspires to lay the groundwork for integrating these systems into modern healthcare infrastructures, enhancing the quality, accessibility, and continuity of care for aging populations. The research should focus on low-power embedded systems, multimodal sensing (including wearable shoe-based platforms), and edge-cloud computing with serverless and federated learning techniques.

You will work on developing energy-efficient, privacy-preserving IoT systems to enable proactive elderly care at home. More specifically the main responsibilities of the PhD candidate will include:

You will be seconded to the Technical University of Munich during the project.

The contributions will include:

You must have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree in a field related to one or more of the general areas of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Telecommunication, Electronics.

Approval and Enrolment
The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. For information about our enrolment requirements and the general planning of the PhD study programme, please see DTU's rules for the PhD education.
