A key role in connecting customers and rail operations
As our Service Design Specialist, you’ll report to the Head of Operations and take the lead on the conceptual planning and optimizing of domestic and international rail freight transports in Denmark and Sweden, therefore you are working together with the planning department in operations and location management in Scandinavia and different Service Design departments within the DB Cargo group. You will monitor the production quality with the aim of improving efficiency and customer satisfaction
From our headquarters in Høje Taastrup, you’ll work closely with customers, colleagues in different countries, and external partners. Your ability to see both the technical detail and the big picture will be key to ensuring a stable, future-fit rail network.
Your main responsibilities
- Transport concepts
Contributing to the development, elaboration and implementation of (inter) national transport in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders in Denmark and Sweden.
- Transport evaluation
Regularly evaluating transport and profitability with both internal and external stakeholders for the purpose of optimizing (annual) planning.
- Handle and coordinate inquiries
Evaluate costs, resources, and routing in collaboration with Operations and the Finance department. Participate in customer dialogues and contribute to transport concepts that are both attractive and executable.
- Lead the Danish single wagon and intermodal network
Solve operational challenges, adjust capacity based on demand, and ensure optimal use of resources. Keep track of weekly utilization and maintain connectivity between trains.
- Order and support domestic and selected international trains
Place orders in line with actual demand and national transport agreements in Denmark and Sweden.
- Invoicing
Ensuring the correct invoicing of the transport services provided in consultation with Finance and Operations.
What you bring to the role
You’re structured, calm under pressure, creative and have a deep understanding of railway operations. You’re not afraid to take ownership – and you know that the best solutions are built on collaboration and clear communication.
We imagine that you have:
- Several years of experience in planning rail freight transport within a domestic/international context
- Experience with train planning, reporting, and working under regulatory frameworks
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English – Danish and/or German is a plus
- A structured, customer-focused mindset and the ability to stay on track in complex situations
- A collaborative approach with the ability to motivate, engage, and make sound decisions
