What are we aiming for?
We are looking for a Mechanical Co-ordinator who can ensure that our plant is operated with respect to safety, environmental and operational limits at all times, whilst maximising availability, reliability, efficiency and performance.
What will you be doing?
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for the mechanical maintenance, breakdown activities and coordination of 3rd party suppliers. Furthermore, your tasks will be to:
- Ensure the plant is maintained with respect to safety, environmental, OEM and industry recognised best practice guidelines, to deliver the highest levels of availability, reliability and efficiency, whilst maintaining engineering integrity at all times.
- Undertake practical application and timely diagnosis, fault finding and scheduled/unscheduled repair and maintenance of the mechanical plant and systems.
- Ensure all planned and reactive maintenance work is completed and updated within the CMMS.
- Ensure all site engineering and maintenance procedures and management instructions are complied with at all times, undertaking reviews of such documents as required.
- Provide support and input into the sites engineering integrity strategy and asset risk register, for all mechanical assets.
- To work flexibly in support of the business, able to change working patterns where necessary in order to meet the needs of the business.
- Undertake the role of the Maintenance Manager from time to time, as per delegated authority.
- Carry out other such responsibilities and duties commensurate with the position as required by the company.
Qualifications to succeed
ONC / C&G / NVQ level 3 in a mechanical engineering discipline is essential, along with a high level of practical thermal/process plant maintenance experience (qualifications below this may be acceptable if accompanied by suitable experience).
A good understanding of all HS&E aspects is a fundamental requirement, with IOSH Managing Safely a preferred requirement.
A priority candidate would have:
- Knowledge and experience of EFW, CCGT, thermal or biomass power plant process
- Knowledge and experience of steam turbines, combustion systems, steam cycle chemistry, WTP, generators, flue gas emission abatement and overall plant performance monitoring.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite, Intra/Internet and MS project and ideally previous CMMS experience.
- Demonstrable Power Plant Operations experience.
- The ability to work unsupervised and take responsibility at all times including during dynamic situations.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills in English.
- Good interpersonal skills, self-motivated, flexible and committed attitude.
- Full UK Driving License

This role is a full-time role contracted for 40 hours per week, working Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm.
Some occasional and ad-hoc national travel may be required.
