As a Perceptual Audio Evaluation Intern, you will join the Advanced Technology Team in Struer, Denmark. You will contribute to activities in research and development, with a focus on perceptual evaluation.
The chosen candidate will be directly involved with planning, conducting, and analysing perceptual experiments for research and benchmarking purposes. These include loudspeaker systems, hearables, and/or prototype algorithms.
The position will be based in the Innovation Laboratory in Struer, Denmark, and will also involve giving demonstrations of the technical facilities. There will also be opportunities to travel to the B&O office in Lyngby, Copenhagen. We are flexible with the start date - a 6-month internship beginning in autumn 2025 (around September) is simply a guideline, and we’re happy to discuss what works best for you.
Key responsibilities
Plan and run perceptual listening experiments to support benchmarking of products and algorithms.
Analyse and interpret perceptual data.
Conduct technical demonstrations.
Contribute to technical documentation and communication of results.
Collaborate across internal teams and with external research partners.
Support facility maintenance and improvement.
What you bring

Interest in audio research, perceptual evaluation, spatial audio, acoustics, or psychoacoustics.
General programming ability.
Preferred: Max, JavaScript, R. Experience working with version control in git.
Beneficial: MATLAB, Python, and others.
Familiarity with perceptual evaluation and/or sensory science methodologies (paired comparison, MUSHRA, descriptive analysis, etc.), or an interest in developing such skills.
Statistical analysis.
Technical writing, presenting, and demonstrating.
Critical listening skills.
Ability to work to deadlines.
Willing to learn and develop new and existing skills.
What we offer
The Advanced Technology Team is based in Denmark across B&O’s headquarters in Struer and office in Lyngby (just outside of Copenhagen). The team has a long history of conducting groundbreaking research and has been involved with projects such as RealVision, S3A, Archimedes, and DREAMS. The aim of the team is to research, prototype, and evaluate new technologies within audio.
The internship is based in Struer, Denmark, which is nicknamed “The City of Sound” (“Lydens By”). Struer is a quaint town known for its deep-rooted audio history. As well as being home to Bang Olufsen for nearly 100 years, it also houses Sound Hub Denmark, an international hub for audio technology start-ups, and other large technology companies. Struer has easy access to beautiful nature and is well-connected by public transport (Aarhus ~2 hours by train, Copenhagen ~4 hours). At Bang & Olufsen, the official working language is English.

Compensation: A fixed monthly salary is offered to interns who are not eligible for SU in Denmark.
