As Vivino's General Counsel, you will serve as the primary legal advisor across all our business functions, driving our mission to be the world's largest wine app forward with sound, commercially-minded legal guidance. This pivotal role involves a hands-on approach to managing the full spectrum of legal and compliance matters globally. You will be instrumental in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide array of critical commercial contracts, including key partnerships, licensing agreements, tech/SaaS arrangements, and vendor relationships that underpin our operations. Furthermore, you will support the Executive Team, providing essential counsel on corporate governance and internal policy development and ensuring Vivino's strategic evolution is always built on a strong legal foundation. Your expertise will be crucial in providing ad-hoc legal insights and project management for various strategic and business initiatives as we evolve and expand.
A significant part of your role will involve proactively owning global legal and compliance matters and managing risk across our diverse international footprint. This includes ensuring robust adherence to critical regulations such as data privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA), marketing and consumer protection regulations, and our industry's unique alcohol-related legal requirements. You will expertly oversee and coordinate with external counsel for specialized areas like intellectual property and potential litigation, disputes, or complex regulatory issues. Moreover, you will collaborate closely with our People & Culture team to navigate and advise on employment law matters across Denmark, the UK, and the US. Finally, a key aspect of your impact will be building scalable legal infrastructure and capabilities: developing essential legal tools, templates, and playbooks, and providing targeted legal training to empower our operational teams to make informed decisions confidently.

We are seeking a pragmatic, business-savvy legal professional eager to take on the challenge of leading Vivino's global legal function. We imagine the ideal candidate will hold a Law degree (LL.M or equivalent) and be qualified to practice law in Denmark, the UK, or the US. You bring several years of post-qualification experience, ideally a dynamic mix of prior work at a reputable law firm with a strong focus on commercial, privacy, or intellectual property law, combined with significant in-house legal experience within a fast-paced e-commerce, app, or platform company.
Your expertise will be crucial in navigating the complexities of our global business, and you have a strong background in:
- Commercial Contracts: Expert ability to draft, review, and negotiate various agreements, including partnerships, SaaS, vendor, and licensing
- Global Compliance: Deep knowledge and practical experience with data privacy regulations (especially GDPR) and intellectual property (IP)
Beyond your technical legal skills, you are a self-starter who thrives in a lean, fast-paced, and evolving scale-up environment, comfortable taking initiative and owning outcomes. You possess a demonstrated ability to translate complex legal risks into clear, actionable, and commercially viable business advice, acting as a true enabler for growth rather than just flagging issues. With excellent English skills, both written and verbal, you also bring exceptional stakeholder management abilities, allowing you to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization and embed yourself as a trusted advisor.
