Applications are invited for a 28 months position as Assistant Professor in (Plant Molecular Biology) at the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Aarhus University, Denmark.

This is a 28 months position from 01 11 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Job description

Your general tasks will consist of

  • Independent research of high international quality, including publication. Teaching, guidance and examination of Bachelor’s and Master's degree students, as well as possibly co-supervision of PhD students.

  • Contribution to external research funding.

  • Development of national and international networks and collaborations in research.

Your specific tasks will consist of

  • Designing distinct strategies for engineering crops for beneficial association and interactions with beneficial microbes providing increased plant resilience in nutrient-limited soils

  • Design and coordinate research projects of bachelor, master and PhD students that fall into the same research area

  • Contribute to the network and research activities within the larger international consortia

Your profile

Applicants should hold a PhD in Plant Molecular biology and have an extensive expertise as postdoctoral fellow working on engineering crops or in beneficial plant-microbe interactions.

You have experience from supervision of students and technicians working in this field.

Experience with obtaining own research funding is a plus.

Situated in a newly renovated laboratory complex within the central campus of Aarhus University, The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics comprises a vibrant research and education environment. The department currently has 75 full time scientific staff, 95 PhD students and a yearly uptake of around 120 students housed in the same building ensuring a lively setting.

The department has access to state-of-the-art core facilities, including FACS, Bioimaging, CryoEM and Biophysics cores.

Deadline

Applications must be received no later than 22th of September 2025.

Application procedure

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the assessment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. The selection is made on the basis of an assessment of who of the candidates are most relevant considering the requirements of the advertisement. All applicants will be notified within 6 weeks whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee and will receive his/her assessment. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.

Formalities and salary range

Natural Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

The application must be in English and include a curriculum vitae, degree certificate, a complete list of publications, a statement of future research plans and information about research activities, teaching portfolio and verified information on previous teaching experience (if any). Appointment shall be in accordance with the collective labour agreement between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
