Core Responsibilities
AM materials development with suppliers, consisting of developing specifications on the basis of materials testing
Develop knowledge in materials performance as a function of AM process conditions
Lead technical development of resin materials for additive manufacturing:
- Develop the requirements for materials for the relevant Additive Manufacturing technologies by co-development with suppliers and internal tests, as well as by dialogues with internal stakeholders.
- Engage with suppliers in the materials development: guide work by setting clear technical targets and reporting back results on a regular basis.
Enable the AM process engineering team by defining and evaluating materials data to close material knowledge gap.
Build AM material knowledge to support element development.
Dissemination of learnings to the relevant competence areas at TLG and stakeholders within Engineering & Quality. Act as key contact for AM materials development.
Scouting, mapping and evaluating potential of new materials for relevant AM technologies.

The Additive Manufacturing (AM) program is focusing on the research and development of design methodologies and technologies, production technologies, materials, and applications. The Materials Department is responsible for the resins, master batches and inks in LEGO products.
The purpose of the position is to develop resin materials that are suitable for the selected AM Technology for the future production of LEGO elements.
Due to the newness of the technology and the materials that are to be used in the LEGO products, multiple party external collaboration will be required.
You will ensure transfer of materials knowledge to the Materials Platform. The team will build knowledge of the production of powders suitable for the selected AM technologies, will develop correlations between powder properties and performance through characterization and AM tests.
Do you have what it takes
Master’s degree or higher (preferably a chemistry or chemical engineering degree with a specialty in polymers; alternatively a mechanical engineering degree with specialty in materials)
Minimum a handful of years of proven experience in R&D organizations.
Knowledge of and strong experience with testing of polymeric materials (thermoplastics)
Excellent presentation skills and writing skills
Strong result orientation in combination with scientific interest and curiosity
Experience with managing R&D projects
Experience with additive manufacturing techniques.
The position is based in Billund, DK and relocation support is not offered for this role.
